A CHINA FLEET COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING: CHARLENE & TOM

Share a little back story?  How did you guys meet?  Who made the first move?

 
We first met in August of 2011 when Tom played rugby in the same team as my brother. I went to watch my brother play and Tom came over during the game to scrounge a cigarette from my mum. That is where I had to endure his awful and questionable chat up lines. He made me laugh. Over the next 5 years, we would bump into each other whenever I went on a night out on the town and we would say hi on passing or he would give my a piggyback to the nearest McDonald’s as my feet were too sore to walk. Then one night he tagged along with my group and we were chatting away all night. That’s when I realised he was actually an alright guy. We kept in touch from that night on, messaging daily to then having a relationship.

Where and when was the proposal?

Tom proposed 29/08/2021 at Paignton zoo on the wobbly bridge, and his opening proposal line whilst down on one knee as he opened the ring box was “Pow!!” He will never live that down . And I will never live my answer down which was in a screeching voice, “are you serious?”. He’s always such a joker that I couldn’t tell. I mean whilst walking around the zoo, he told me he thought monkeys were on his back trying to get in his rucksack when it was me trying to get my cardigan. I then found out it was because the ring was in his bag .

What was the favourite part of your wedding day?

My favourite part of the day was reaching Tom at the end of the aisle, I was a nervous wreck and couldn’t decide whether I was going to throw up or pass out. But as soon as we stood there together, hand in hand and eyes gazed blocking everyone else out,

my nerves calmed right down.

What was it that made you choose Simply Beautiful Photo & Film to capture your day?

We chose Simply Beautiful Photo & Film because for a good two years I would come across the webpage in my Facebook news feed and I just fell in love with the style of the photos, and that was exactly what I wanted, to look back on for our day. 

Have you got any top tips for couples who are planning their wedding?

My top tip for other couples getting married is do not stress. What will be will be and any mishaps on the day is never noticed by the guests. Spend as much time together as you can, especially sneak off for a little moment or two together to take it all in. The day goes so quickly.
