A MILL BARNS WEDDING: VICTORIA & PHIL

Phil and I met at work – we both worked in a secondary school at the time and would give each other the eye across the room but nothing ever came of it until a few years later. Longest build up ever!

He finally asked me out on a date and when I asked where we were going he said, it’s a surprise! I assumed the usual dinner and drinks would take place but we ended up at Bear Grylls adventure experience! I’m a very adventurous person and love trying new things so for me, this was huge bonus points! Not doing the standard date and realising he actually listened to my likes etc was perfect. So I suppose the rest from there was history and the random but fun dates continued 🙂

Our first trip we took together was London. I absolutely love the theatre so we went to go and see a show, on our way back he asked me to be his girlfriend (I know, who does that in their 20s?! But he was very formal!) and since then we make sure we go to London a couple of times a year for date days/weekends away etc.

One year he surprised me with a fancy dinner evening in The Shard (sounds strange but I absolutely love looking over at landscapes such as cities, the countryside etc. There’s just something really peaceful about being up high looking over at the beauty of a town/city). He knew this so once we got to the top I heard our song play over the speaker and he told me he had arranged it with The Shard so I could really enjoy the moment. The sweetest thing anyone had every done for me.

So it was only right that he proposed to me a few years later back in London. I had never been on the London Eye so we went on there on a lovely sunny afternoon. Little did I know, as I was taking in the city from the heights, he was down on one knee behind me ready to ask me to marry him! It was perfect.

The favourite part of our wedding day was right after we got married – we went and had a little moment together with no one else around. There were so many amazing moments at our wedding (we announced our pregnancy at our wedding too!) but spending those quiet moments with him was absolutely perfect and by far my most cherished moment from our wedding.

I first found Simply Beautiful Photo and Film after doing a Google search and instantly loved the style of photos on their website. We had a look at numerous other photographers but kept coming back to Simply Beautiful. Once we had our engagement shoot with Sarah we knew she was the right choice for us. Very relaxed, making us feel super comfortable in front of the camera and focused on natural and candid pictures which is exactly what we wanted. It was perfect and I couldn’t thank her enough.

Biggest tip from us is to not stress the small stuff. We were both very relaxed planning our wedding and kept in mind that our number one priority was each other. We had the best, most relaxed and loveable day and I think that’s all anyone wants for their big day 🙂
